Unidentified Flying Object

This strange flying animal has been flitting around my home for a few days. Is it a moth? Close up, you can see that it has a tail that curves up. I don't think it is a sting though. Hm...a refugee from the constructon site across the river, I guess.

All Hail Queen Whitty

Behold Queen Whitty, head of mischief in the yard.

The queen and her consort are making a coordinated attack on their box of treats again. They have bitten through my tupperware box. Hey you rabbits! Do you know how expensive tupperware is? I wonder if the lifetime warranty covers rabbit attacks :P

Rabbits working overtime

Been sick at home nursing a fever and cold. It was dreadfully boring and the animals had to work overtime to keep me entertained. The rabbits' nap was interrupted every two hours or so with me offering them new types of food - dandelion leaves, xiao bai cai, and bok choy. In the end, they got so fed up (literally) that they hid in the loft of their home and refused to respond to me anymore.

"Go away, we want to sleep. Shouldn't you be at work?"

Rabbit Attack

It can be difficult to get good pictures of the rabbits, because they are so inquisitive. Funnily, they seem to sense that the camera is aimed at them, and stop whatever interesting thing they are doing. Blackie is giving me a suspicious look now:

Arh! He made a charge at the camera. Rabbit attack!

Whitty close up

Whitty is in a pensive mood. It has been a noisy day so she is still sleepy.

Perking up suddenly when she discovers me adding new hay to their feeding ball.

Best friends again

Now that the Squeaks are older, there seems to be so much more squabbling over food and favourite places, and less playing and snuggling together. *Sigh* Even cute little furballs follow these inevitable social development in adulthood.

So this is quite a rare moment for us, seeing them eat side by side, sharing food and the most comfortable eating space.

Happily, we have managed to treat Friendly's skin condition somewhat. She is dusted with medicated powder, dunked in oatmeal solution, and rubbed with neem oil shampoo for small animals. She still looks scruffy and patchy, but at least the dreadful smell is gone :P

Blackie: Call of the Wild

Blackie! Don't I give you enough hay? When I put hay in your feeding bowl, you aren't interested. You would rather rip open the bags and forage for yourself.

Nom...nom...nom...forbidden hay always tastes better!

Bathing a hamster

Dwarf hamsters don't like water. Friendly spits and hisses and bites when we try to bathe her, though we still do. Here we use a damp towel to rub the Squeaks with a little pet shampoo. Ninja is featured in this entry because she is the most docile, and erm...prettiest of course.

Now nice and clean, and swathed in tissue.

Ninja enjoying life

We were cleaning the cages so all the Squeak were shifted to their temporary pen. No matter where they are, Ninja is so at ease that she can sleep and enjoy life.

Then she woke up and decided to steal some tissue paper from PipSqueak, who soon came out and squeaked fiercely at her neighbour. Hahaha, but PipSqueak, you frequently steal their bedding too.

Happy (Henpecked) couple

Now that the rabbits are roomed together again, they are twice as active and mischievous as ever. If the lazy owners wake up a little later than usual, expect plenty of banging from the yard.

But it's nice to see them happy once more. See how Whitty drapes her leg comfortably over Blackie.
How relaxing life is...

Ah...this is life

I can only say, my furballs all know how to enjoy life. See how comfortable they make themselves.
Hey Ninja, you are going to fall off your nice bed if you don't watch it!

More on Ninja

Suddenly, a bout of scuffling took place in the cage. Shashashashashasha! Shashasha! It was Ninja, in an uncharacteristically fearsome mood, engaged in battle with the toilet roll. I'm not sure what she was trying to do, and sad to say, these hamsters are so feeble that they can do little damage even to cardboard.

hehehe, looking up puzzled because I tapped her head. What are you up to, little one? You can't pull the toilet roll into the house, you know.

Bunny Love: Boy meets Gal

It was love at first sight.

Having been warned so much about the difficulty of rabbit bonding, we brought Blackie to the petshop to see if he could get along with the cute little girl there, and he was immediately smitten. The boy bunny covered her with kisses and grooming, and of course, the inevitable happened.

Blackie: all by himself, kind of lonely

Enters Whitty: Proof that opposites attract

And now: the happy couple!

Blackie has been the perfect gentleman, grooming his bunbride and showing her the ropes of life in our home, like where to poop and pee :P haha! And how to trash up all their toys. Though when it comes to food, it's still every bunny for itself, haha! I am feeding Whitty secretly by hand because if not, the greedy Blackie would gobble everything up!

A Special On Ninja

One should never display favouritism...but I have to admit that Ninja is really the cutest Squeak of them all :P She always has a confused 'what is happening' look about her.

This is the first shot I took of Ninja using the new camera. Hehehe...I just grabbed her in one hand and clicked away with the other. Ninja is so docile that she hardly protested. She is just baffled, as usual. "Am I flying? Is it treat time again?"

Looking at V inquiringly. "Are you going to give me another pine nut?" I'm happy to say that our Squeaks trust us perfectly and have no fear in our hands. It must be due to our loving care :)

Reflections

One morning I woke up, looked out of the window and thought, 'what happened to the river!' Why are there white patterns on the water surface?

Then I realised that the water is actually reflecting the clouds in the sky. Wow...what a lovely sight.
